We love to tailgate at our favorite college sports' team football games! We were lucky enough to travel to Arizona for the National BCS Championship game last year and then the Rose Bowl in California this year when our University of Oregon Ducks battled it out.
Tailgating in sunny climates after weathering the Oregon cooler fall and chilly evenings (the Ducks have been playing so well that many of our games are now televised night games) was quite the treat the past two winters. The Ducks flocked to the southern regions and were able to get a dose of sunshine before weathering the wet, cold, rain that dominates our weather but keeps Oregon green.
I love tailgate food and beverages! There is something that makes a tailgate menu item taste even better before a football game.
Here are a few of my favorites to inspire ideas for your next tailgate:
Muffaletta salami sub with olive salad and provolone version.
Soft pretzels with spicy honey mustard Not from scratch but quick recipe or the delicious from scratch recipe courtesy of mel's kitchen cafe.
The Barefoot Contessa's Outrageous Brownies!
Ohio State Buckeye Balls via All Recipes
Brats or Oktoberfest Sausages on Rye Rolls with Kraut
Cheddar Bacon Ranch Pull Apart Bread (affectionately known as "crack bread" on Pinterest boards)
Caramel Cheesecake Apple Dip via Half Baked
Pampered Chef S'more Cups are divine and a perfect little hand-held treat for game day!
A cute idea for holding beverages is to paint inexpensive metal buckets (perhaps from the farm store) rubbed with steel wool and painted with your favorite team colors!
Have fun and GO DUCKS!
