(continued from this post - One Little Word for 2013)
First of all, I just want to thank those of you who shared your One Little Word for 2013 on the blog, via Facebook, Twitter and via e-mails. I am so inspired by your words and the rationale behind your selection of words. I now have many other words to add to my arsenal of words for future years, thanks to your inspiration!
As for this year...
my word of the year will be FOCUS.
Just like the lens of my camera, I want my world to come into focus and clarity with what matters most.
I love the power of what "One Little Word" has to serve as a starting point as we recreate our lives with a new intention. I delight in the possibility of how "FOCUS" can transform how I live and view my life.

Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed. - Paul Coelho
Instead of focusing on how much you can accomplish, focus on how much you can absolutely love what you're doing. - Leo Babuta
That's been one of my mantras - focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains. - Steve Jobs
It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light. - Aristotle Onassis
You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. - Mark Twain
One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular. - Tony Robbins
When you focus on being a blessing, God makes sure that you are always blessed in abundance. - Joel Osteen
Foucs on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it. - Greg Anderson
Some of my thoughts swirling around the word FOCUS include:
- Become keenly aware, clear, and focused. Concentrate and focus on what I really want to achieve. Keep my eyes open for opportunities but stay the course of my intended journey.
- Focus on one thing at a time. When it is finished, I can move on to the next. I have been juggling and multi-tasking for the past several years and while effective for the most part, my multi-tasking efforts could be improved.
- Focus on the essentials and limit distractions. Focus on what really matters. Be present in the moment, whether with my family or while working.
- Live each day with intention. Direct my focus and concentrate my power.
- Focus on how much I can love what I am doing.
- Focus on being a blessing to others.
- Focus on the journey, not the destination.
Because the following words were all in the final running for selection as my "One Little Word" of the year for 2013, I plan to also focus on the following areas:
- Vitality - wellness
- Abundance - gratitude, bliss and joy
- Organization - balance, prioritizing
Well, here goes! Fingers crossed!
What will be your One Little Word for 2013? I'd love to hear from more of you!
