With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, I wanted to share one of my favorite romantic gifts that I have ever given.
One year, I made the Hubs a mini scrapbook filled with "A Year's Worth of Dates" for the upcoming 12 months. The book was set up to have a gift certificate, the actual tickets or a promise note for each date along with space to accomodate a photo of us to document the actual date.
The Hubs was speechless and absolutely loved it, coining it his favorite gift (besides the flight lessons in 8th grade that I don't think I will ever be able to top). It was definitely one of my favorite gifts to give.
The theme of the book was "Where Are You Going?" Many of the dates took place outside, as we share a love of the outdoors.
The dates included the following:
A Kidnap Date in which he was blindfolded and told to pack appropriate clothing with no clue that we were headed to a Mariner's Baseball game and a getaway in Seattle. Although the blindfold didn't last too long, it was long enough to get onto the freeway with his only knowledge being that we were heading north. This was my favorite of all the dates as it was the ultimate surprise and was pulled off without a hitch.
A Golf Date
A Lake Date for Fishing and Brunch.
A Downhill Ski Date with pre-purchased lift tickets.
A Movie Date with movie ticket gift certificate in the pocket.
Old Growth Forest River Bike and Hike with Picnic Date
A Pampering Date
A Romantic Homemade Meal Date with all of his favorites.
A Day at the Beach Date complete with a Sunset Smooch.
A Wishing Date filled with a search for a four leaf clover, a first star, a shooting star, a white horse, a new moon, a car with only one headlight, complete with a coin to toss into a fountain.
Admission for Two - to a sporting, cultural or musical event.
Geo-Caching Date - follow clues and GPS signals to find treasure boxes.
Dessert Date - visit multiple restaurants but only order dessert at each one, no diets or calorie counting allowed.
And The Pick Your Own Date
This romantic gift could be easily duplicated and simply made with 12 envelopes filled with date cards; in similar scrapbook fashion but simplified to slip into a page protector; or even wrapped as 12 separate gift packages. The idea could also be recreated for other family members, children or parents as nothing can compete with the gift of time spent together.
What are your date ideas?
